John McCauley is Associate Professor of Government and Politics and the Director of the minor program in International Development and Conflict Management. Currently, he directs large-scale applied research initiatives aimed at building community-level resilience to violent extremism in northern Ghana and Benin, funded by USAID and the State Department’s bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, respectively. His research interests include the political economy of development, religious and ethnic politics, informal institutions, and terrorism.
Dr. McCauley received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has a B.A. in Economics from the College of William & Mary and an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University.
