CIDCM has had a long-standing partnership with the Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Partners in Conflict Project at CIDCM was founded by Prof. Edy Kaufman, who has also served for many years (until 2005) as executive director of the Truman Institute, where he promoted a series of collaborations with Palestinian academics and organizations to support peacemaking, human rights and integrative conflict management.

Prof. Manuel Hassassian, until recently vice-chancellor of Bethlehem University, (currently Palestinian Ambassador to the United Kingdom) is also active as a Research Associate at CIDCM, collaborating with Prof. Kaufman in the Team Teaching Our Conflicts Project.

CIDCM faculty, who include several Palestinian, Jewish and Muslim Americans, have on several occasions been able to bring together Israelis and Palestinians in second track peace initiatives, continue to work closely with partner organizations in the Middle East. Some of this work is included in the following books co-authored by Prof. Kaufman and Palestinian partners:

  • Bridging the Divide: Peacebuilding in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Lynne Rienner Publishers, 2006
  • Democracy, Peace, and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Lynne Rienner Publishers, 1993
